Beta-Lactam<\/a> is an antibiotic that contains beta-lactam rings within its structures. It contains nitrogen molecules attached to the beta carbon. It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic such as penicillin, derivatives, cephalosporins, monobactams, carbapenems, etc. It inhibits the biosynthesis of bacterial cell walls and destroys bacterial pathogens. Beta-lactam drugs are commonly prescribed drugs based on the patient\u2019s case history. These drugs are particularly effective against a wide range of gram-positive, gram-negative, and anaerobic bacteria.
